1. Has the brand formulated the objective to reduce its CO2 emissions from its own operations (including owned production facilities), by at least 30% in 2020 compared to 1990 CO2 emission levels? Mitsubishi has set several targets, but its not clear whether these targets are related to the absolute emissions for the period 1990 to 2020. Mitsubishi targets are: reduce CO2 emitted by products by half and have electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles account for at least 20% of total production in 2020. SOURCE
2. Has the brand disclosed the annual carbon footprint of its 'own operations', including owned production facilities? Mitsubishi does not commicate ots carbon emissions on its website. The last carbon data is from the 2008 Sustainability Report Information (page 40) which is not complete (only domestic manufacturing) and not recent. SOURCE
3. Has the brand already reduced or compensated its CO2 emissions from its own operations (including owned production facilities), by at least 10% in the last 5 years? Figures from 2007 indicate that compared to 2002 Mitsubishi reduced its CO2 emission by 11%. However, recent and complete footprint information on the CO2-emissions are not found in the 2011 Sustainability Report. SOURCE
4. Does the brand disclose a full carbon Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of its main car models or series, so that the carbon emissions caused by the car production (from raw materials to final product) are also transparent? Mitsubishi does not communicate any Life Cycle assessments for any of its models. SOURCE
5. Does the brand plan to achieve an average CO2 emission of 130 grams per kilometer (g/km) or lower for its European car fleet prior to 2015? In 2008, Mitsubishi reported to work towards an average CO2 emissions of 140g/km for all new cars sold in 2009 onward, but does not mention to have achieved this or have any other objectives. SOURCE
6. Has the brand achieved an average CO2 emission of 160 grams per kilometer (g/km) or lower for its European car fleet? Mitsubishi does not report its fleet average based on car sales for at least Europe. Mitsubishi has a catalogue average of 162 g/km. This number was calculated on 16-12-2011 from the entire fleet listed on the Netherlands Mitsubishi site, 23 car types were included. The Netherlands site is assumed to be representative sample of cars for the European market. SOURCE
7. Has the brand achieved an average CO2 emission of 150 grams per kilometer (g/km) or lower for its European car fleet? See remark for climate change question 6. SOURCE
8. Has the brand achieved an average CO2 emission of 140 grams per kilometer (g/km) or lower for its European car fleet? See remark for climate change question 6. SOURCE
9. Has the brand achieved a 4% CO2 emission reduction of the car fleet average in the last two years? Mitsubishi states it is aiming to reduce its CO2 emissions. Furthermore, Mitsubishi has models that produce significantly lower emissions than average levels. However, there is no information found on the carbon emission fleet averages of the last 2 years, in absolute terms (e.g. fleet average in g/km). SOURCE
10. Has the brand achieved a 10% CO2 emission reduction of the car fleet average in the last five years? See remark for climate change question 9. SOURCE
11. Does the brand sell a car that has a CO2 emission of 100 grams per kilometer (g/km) or lower? Mitsubishi launched the i-MiEV electric car in Europe in 2010. The i-MiEV uses 135 kWh/km and has no emissions. SOURCE
12. Does the brand sell a car that has a CO2 emission of 90 grams per kilometer (g/km) or lower? See remark for climate change question 11. SOURCE
13. Has the brand developed a prototype car that has a CO2 emission of 70 grams per kilometer (g/km) or lower? See remark for climate change question 11. SOURCE
14. Does the brand sell a hybrid, electric or fuel cell car on the European market? Mitsubishi launched the i-MiEV electric car in Europe in 2010. The i-MiEV uses 135 kWh/km and has no emissions. SOURCE
15. Has the brand announced that a full electric or fuel cell car will be brought to the European market by 2012 at the latest? Mitsubishi launched the i-MiEV in the EU market towards the end of 2010 following its announcement in 2009. SOURCE
